Sensitization and Public Awareness

Sensitization and Public Awareness

The centrality of land and its sensitivity require that all stakeholders are involved at all stages of the land reform process. The protracted land reform process in Malawi has given lessons that meaningful public engagement is necessary for creation of ownership for the process and buy-in of the resultant policies and programmes. To that effect a Communication Strategy was developed to create a deeper awareness and understanding of the land-related laws among various stakeholders and the general public. The Communication Strategy was necessary for packaging and harmonizing messages from different stakeholders but does not replace the need for a functional multi-stakeholder forum such as the Environment, Land and Natural Resources Sector Working Group (ELNR SWG) ELNR SWG that would be used for not just informing but also for exchanging lessons and best practices learnt from various interventions in the sector and get feedback.
